Music of the Unidentified Flying Quartet

The Unidentified Flying Quartet takes its inspiration from a wide ranging assortment of musical genres. For Doc, his association with Roy "Futureman" Wooten of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones is evident in his approach to his unique instrument, as well as jazz drummers like Billy Cobham and Bill Bruford; For bassist Edo Castro Woodhouse, it is the music of bassists like Jaco Pastorius, Eberhard Weber and Kai Eckhardt; Likewise guitarist David McFarland enjoys the works of guitarists Pat Metheny, John Scofield and Kurt Rosenwinkle; Laura Austin Wiley loves the works of the flautist Hubert Laws! Heady influences indeed and you can hear them and many more in their live and recorded performances.
